THE ARTS: INDEPENDENT ANIMATION
DON'T THINK OF A PINK ELEPHANT
'Don't Think Of A Pink Elephant' is an animated short from the National Film & Television School.
I joined the team as a modelmaker to work in the studio for several weeks. Models were made using various methods and materials including: Milliput sculpting, PVA & cotton wool build-up and chemical blackeners with acrylic washes (on tin and balsa wood) to weather objects and give the appearance of much heavier metals and aged wood. The pizza cutter in the trailer above is an example of fabrication.
- ROLE(S): Modelmaker (responsible for some key props plus puppet maintenance - eyelids and hair)
- TECHNIQUES & MATERIALS USED: Milliput sculpt, PVA and cotton wool build-up, use of chemical blackeners and acrylic washes for weathering.
